The forum has ended – the dialogue continues

On October 19, the XXV international women's conference "East and West meet in St. Petersburg"completed its three-day work. It was attended by more than a thousand women leaders from St. Petersburg, regions of the Russian Federation and the CIS, more than a hundred foreign guests from 30 countries of the world: the Baltic States, Europe, Asia, and the Arab States.

The event traditionally has a high status. And this time among the participants were the Governor of St. Petersburg, representatives of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Administration and Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, the leadership Council of the Republic National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, members of the Royal family of Bahrain, a titled lady from Malaysia and Thailand, leaders of women's public organizations, universities, industrial companies and mass media, known in the East and the West, businessmen and international experts.

The conference was organized by the St. Petersburg Socio-economic Institute in partnership with the all-Russian public organization "Union of Women of Russia" with the support of the government of St. Petersburg.

The conference continued the twenty-five-year tradition of holding international women's high-level meetings in the city on the Neva river, which bring together leading foreign and Russian politicians, public figures, scientists and experts in various fields to exchange experience and information on projects aimed at developing international business and humanitarian cooperation.

Joint plans for the development of entrepreneurship were discussed at the meeting of the heads of partner organizations of the project for cross-border cooperation under the Russia-Latvia 2014-2020 program "Entrepreneurship, women and consulting: a network of resource centers for women entrepreneurs in the border areas of Latvia and Russia" (EWA). A training workshop on building project management skills and organizing effective partner interaction was held for the participants. The project, which brings together participants from St. Petersburg and Pskov region, Riga, Latgale, Jelgava and Zemgale regions of Latvia, is sure to have specific goals and will contribute to mutually beneficial cooperation.

Within the framework of the conference, an international exhibition "Women's project" was organized in three formats: digital, representing social entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg, Pskov and border regions of Latvia; an exhibition and sale of products for women from enterprises in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Karelia, Mongolia, Tatarstan, Uzbekistan and Yakutia; and an exhibition representing the most successful projects led by women.

In General, the conference was attended by more than 90 speakers from different regions of Russia and foreign countries. Plenary and 22 breakout sessions, thematic sections, seminars, round tables, master classes, lectures, presentations of books by Danish, German and Russian authors, the conclusion of a number of cooperation agreements-this is the working result of the XXV International women's conference "East and West meet in St. Petersburg".

We received a lot of good feedback from its participants and heard many warm words of gratitude for the opportunity to meet in St. Petersburg and build bridges for international business and humanitarian cooperation – "says Elena Kalinina, chair of the organizing Committee of the forum, President of the St. Petersburg Association "Women's Alliance". – I hope that holding a large-scale women's forum in our city, as before, will help form new ideas and projects aimed at the economic, social and humanitarian development of the city, support for priority areas of tourism, and the activation of the women's movement.
